M1 can provide notification via email or text message for a variety of events including:
- System arming/disarming
- Alarm activation
- High/low temperatures
- System troubles
This feature requires the ELK-M1XEP Ethernet Interface.
Configuration Details
The email feature of the M1XEP is designed for general notifications and allows up to 16 email addresses/messages to be programmed. A message may contain up to 255 characters of text.
The M1XEP must be configured with settings for the mail server through which the emails will be sent. This includes the outgoing mail server address, port number, valid "from" email address and login credentials(if required).
Elk normally recommends customers use their ISP’s (Internet Service Provider) email services where possible. However it may be necessary to use an alternate mail service provider. M1XEP firmware version 2.0.20 or later supports an extended list of email service providers including some with SSL/TLS requirements
Sending Text Messages Using the Email Feature
A text message can be delivered to a cellular phone by sending an email to the email address of the phone
